Metagenics Phosphatidylserine

Phosphatidylserine [PS] is a chemical that is needed in abundance within humans for normal and healthy brain functioning. Although it is found naturally in some foods-egg yolk, soybeans, liver- many people may not be getting the amount they need to properly function.

PS is shown in research to improve a number of brain-related functions including memory, recall, learning, mood, concentration and focus in addition to reducing neuroinflammation and increasing the rate of neurotransmission.

It has shown potential to have beneficial effects in several nervous system diseases including Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Major Depressive Disorder, and others.

PS supplementation is able to do this because it is involved in a number of very important functions within the brain including enzyme activation, apoptosis (the signaling process for killing dysfunctional cells), and neurotransmission. PS is a vital component in

cell membranes (the outer layer of cells) and nerves that allows electrical signals to be passed quickly within the nervous system.

If you have questions about Phosphatidylserine or have considered trying it to improve cognitive and neurologic function, feel free to ask at your next appointment.
